Description
Little Wacipi Dancer in black and white is an original photograph by Dyle Warren. 47th Annual National Championship PowWow in Grand Prairie, Texas.
Porcupine hair roaches are a traditional male headdress of a number of native american tribes. Most often worn at pow-wows by dancers as regalia. From the guard hair of the porcupine, the tail hair of the white tail deer and the moose. Some hair roaches are dyed bright colors such as red or yellow. The term roach comes from the traditional Mohawk hairstyle worn by warriors of the Pawnee and some Algonquin tribes.
